Teacher transfer process to begin on July 29: Min

Patna: Education department on Friday issued a notification for the transfer of govt school teachers under the Bihar State Teacher Transfer Rules, 2026. The online portal for applications seeking adjustment, rationalisation and mutual transfers will remain open from July 29 to Aug 5.The department said the transfer exercise would be carried out in three phases and completed by Oct 31. The policy was approved by the state cabinet on June 24.According to the notification, the first phase, covering adjustment and rationalisation, will be held from Aug 7 to Sept 9. During this period, the department will publish lists, invite objections and dispose of appeals.The second phase, from Sept 10 to Sept 14, will focus on mutual transfers, which will be processed by district, divisional and state establishment committees.For general transfers, the department will release a revised school-wise vacancy list on Sept 16. Eligible teachers can submit applications and select their preferred schools between Sept 17 and Sept 23.Education minister Mithilesh Tiwari said the process had started as announced earlier and would be conducted online in a transparent manner. The department has asked eligible teachers to apply within the stipulated period and follow the prescribed guidelines.
