Nagpur: If a notice for a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) hearing pops up on your WhatsApp, don’t dismiss it as just another message. The Nagpur district election administration on Thursday said notices would be sent on WhatsApp and voters receiving them must appear for their scheduled hearing with the required documents.With verification of unmapped and anomaly-flagged electoral records gathering pace, district collector and district election officer Kumar Ashirwad urged citizens to check their names in the draft electoral roll and respond to notices.The administration said voters whose names already figure in the draft roll but have received notices because of no-mapping or logical anomalies must attend the hearing. Authorities will assign the date and time.For verification, the administration has listed documents including central or state govt/PSU identity cards or pension orders, birth certificates, passports, matriculation or educational certificates, permanent residence certificates, Forest Rights certificates, caste certificates, Family Register records and land or house allotment certificates. Certain govt or local authority documents issued before July 1, 1987, and NRC records where applicable are also among the listed documents.The administration has simultaneously asked every citizen to check whether their name appears in the draft electoral roll. Names can be searched through the Election Commission’s electoral search facility and the Nagpur district administration website.Those finding their names missing or electoral particulars incorrect can approach the Electoral Registration Officer concerned. Form 6 is prescribed for new enrolment, Form 7 for deletion or objections, and Form 8 for address and other corrections.Significantly, officials clarified that application for enrolment or correction can be made even after publication of the final electoral roll through prescribed forms.
