Kalyan: Three people were injured after a fire broke out at a welding-cum-garage shop in Shastrinagar near Chakkinaka in Kalyan East on Friday. The incident occurred around 4 am when there were no workers inside the shop, preventing a major tragedy. According to officials, the fire, suspected to have been triggered by a gas cylinder leak, also damaged several vehicles parked outside the shop, including an autorickshaw that was gutted.The injured were identified as Narendra Gaikwad, Mehboob Sheikh and Vishal Vasane. Gaikwad, who suffered serious burn injuries, was shifted to the govt hospital in Kalwa for further treatment. Sheikh and Vasane are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kalyan.Fire brigade officials, led by chief Namdev Chaudhary, rushed to the spot after receiving the alert and brought the blaze under control. The ownership details of the welding shop were not immediately available.Shiv Sena corporator Mahesh Gaikwad also visited the spot and later met the injured at the private hospital. He assured them of assistance for their treatment and said help would also be arranged for further medical care.
