Factory Owner Dies by Suicide After Woman Employee’s Call to Wife Sparks Fight

Nagpur: A 55-year-old factory owner died by suicide after a dispute with his wife, allegedly triggered by a phone call from a woman employee, following which police registered a case of abetment of suicide against her.Pramod Ramteke ran a food factory with his 45-year-old wife at Jaibhim Chowk. A 35-year-old woman from the same locality worked at the factory.According to police, on Aug 24, the woman employee allegedly called Ramteke’s wife and told her that he had sent her Rs 2,000. She added that she would “complain” if such an incident occurred again.When questioned by his wife, Pramod reportedly told her the money had been transferred to the employee by mistake. Following the exchange, he left for the factory without offering any further explanation.The next morning, a tenant residing below the factory informed Ramteke’s wife that the factory door was locked from inside. She rushed to the spot and found her husband hanging, police said.During the investigation, police recovered a note purportedly written by Pramod. In it, he alleged that the woman employee had been feeding his wife false information, leading to repeated conflict between the couple. He further stated that she would be responsible if anything happened to him.Based on the note, Ramteke’s wife lodged a complaint accusing the employee of driving her husband to take the extreme step. New Kamptee police subsequently registered a case of abetment of suicide against the woman.The accused has not been arrested so far. The investigation is being supervised by senior inspector Mahesh Andhale.
