Rajkot: A lioness was guided away from a railway track in time after forest trackers and railway personnel acted swiftly when the animal strayed onto the tracks late at night in the Liliya range of Shetrunji forest division.The lioness, which was approaching from the Antaliya side, came onto the track between milestones 28/1 and 28/2, raising the possibility of an accident. On being alerted, a forest department team reached the spot under the guidance of DCF Chirag Amin and ACF Rajan Jadav.Forester Imran Pathan, along with Van Mitra and Rail Mitra teams, maintained continuous surveillance and twice guided the lioness away from the track. A train was halted for around 30 minutes until the animal safely crossed the railway line.The lioness was subsequently guided towards her natural habitat. The forest department said the timely intervention and coordination between its teams and railway personnel helped avert a potentially serious mishap and ensured safe movement of rail traffic.
