Advocates in city abstain from judicial work

Times News NetworkKanpur: Advocates abstained from judicial work in the city on Wednesday in compliance with a decision taken at a recent two-day state-level advocates’ conference.The Kanpur Bar Association (KBA) and the Lawyers’ Association, in a joint communique, had informed advocates to abstain from judicial work as per the decision taken at the state-level meet. In the absence of advocates, litigants were given fresh dates for their cases and no judicial proceedings could be conducted.The decision to abstain from judicial work every Wednesday was also followed in other districts. The Meerut Bar Association, in a communique, informed that advocates in the district were abstaining from judicial work.KBA general secretary Vinay Mishra said the decision was followed by advocates in Kanpur. However, groups of office-bearers patrolled the court premises to check whether any advocate was engaged in judicial work.
