Gorakhpur: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate Kalyan Mandapam at Jungle Nakaha No. 2 during his visit to Gorakhpur on Wednesday. The facility, developed by the Gorakhpur Development Authority (GDA) using funds from the CM’s MLA fund at Rs 3.09 crore, is aimed at providing an affordable venue for social and family functions for lower- and middle-income families.The two-storey structure has been constructed on a 2,461-square-metre plot and can accommodate around 300 people. It includes a large hall, kitchen, storeroom, office, changing rooms and separate toilets for men and women on both floors. Parking facilities have been created within the campus, while a landscaped lawn and fountain have also been developed.GDA vice-chairperson Abhinav Gopal said the project is part of the chief minister’s vision of improving ease of living by creating affordable alternatives to private marriage halls. With the inauguration of the Jungle Nakaha facility, the number of Kalyan Mandapams inaugurated by the CM in Gorakhpur will rise to eight. The latest project follows the inauguration of a similar facility in Basharatpur on August 29.Gopal said two more Kalyan Mandapams are under construction at Mahadev Jharkhandi (Ward No. 7) and Semra in Baba Raghav Das Nagar (Ward No. 2), each at an estimated cost of Rs 2.5 crore.During the visit, the CM will also inaugurate the Indian Medical Association’s charitable blood centre at Taramandal.
