Worker dies after hit by lightning in Buxar farm field

Buxar: A 50-year-old farm worker died after being struck by lightning while working in a paddy field at Narayanpur village under Mufassil police station area in Buxar district on Sunday.The deceased was identified as Vijay Singh (50), son of late Dharmdev Singh, and a resident of Narayanpur. He is survived by his son, aged around 20 years, and a married daughter.The incident took place around 9am when several farmers were working in their fields. Eyewitnesses said a lightning bolt struck the area with a loud thunderclap, hitting Vijay and rendering him unconscious on the spot. Nearby farmers and villagers rushed him to the Chausa Community Health Centre, where doctors declared him brought dead.Mufassil SHO Shambhu Bhagat said police reached the hospital soon after receiving information about the incident. The body was sent to a govt hospital for postmortem, and further legal formalities are underway.
