India is set to get another major weapon and missile testing range at Junput in West Bengal’s Purba Medinipur district. The project, proposed by DRDO in April 2024, will complement the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said he has approved the project and called it a major development initiative for West Bengal. A DRDO source also confirmed the missile testing project to TOI. The Junput facility will become a key DRDO testing hub alongside Chandipur and the proposed centre in Andhra Pradesh. Located around 70 km from Chandipur along the Bay of Bengal, it will help share the workload of the Odisha testing range.
