Noida: A tile mason was arrested and sent to judicial custody for allegedly assaulting his co-worker during a dispute over suspected theft in Greater Noida’s Zeta-2 sector. Ganesh (35) suffered a severe head injury in the assault and later died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Surajpur police registered a case based on a complaint by his family and arrested Ram Sahay.According to police, Ganesh worked as a tile mason and had been staying at an under-construction site in Zeta-2 with Ram Sahay. The two had been working and staying together at the site for some time.On Sunday night, the men were drinking alcohol together at the site when Sahay allegedly accused Ganesh of taking money from his pocket. The argument soon escalated into a physical altercation, as Sahay allegedly attacked Ganesh, whose head hit a wall and the corner of a bed. He sustained a severe head injury and fell unconscious. Sahay claims he believed Ganesh had simply gone to sleep and went to sleep as well.The next morning, the under-construction house’s owner found Ganesh unconscious and bleeding and brought him to a nearby hospital, where he eventually died during treatment. A post-mortem examination was conducted.Police were called, and the investigation led cops to arrest Sahay.Further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and collect evidence related to the assault and the circumstances leading to Ganesh’s death, police added.
