Ramgarh: At a time when people often run from pillar to post to get official work done, 35-year-old social activist Dhananjay Kumar Putush has started a weekly ‘Janta Darbar’ to help common people resolve long-pending grievances free of cost.For the last one year, Putush has been organising the darbar at Bujulia locality on old NH-33 in Ramgarh town. On Sept 6, he held his 45th Janta Darbar, which has become popular not only in Ramgarh but also in neighbouring districts.People approach him with complaints related to wrong electricity bills, ration card correction, social security pension, land mutation and other govt office-related works.“People who have been visiting govt offices for years without any solution come to me with hope. I try my best to get their work done by approaching senior officials. I work as a bridge between offices and common people and do this for free,” Putush said.Putush added that he wants to protect common people from middlemen. He also appreciated govt officials for listening to grievances brought before them.Putush became widely known during the Covid-19 pandemic, when he arranged and delivered life-saving medicines to patients quarantined at home during the lockdown, earning the title of “Medicine Man” in the district.Many have received relief through his intervention, including correction of inflated electricity bills, release of old-age pension and ration card transfers.
