Ghaziabad: Councillors from four of Indirapuram’s seven wards met mayor Sunita Dayal on Tuesday over the township’s poor road conditions, complaining about delays and the way contractors are executing the projects.“Councillors Dhiraj Agarwal, Harish Kadkoti, Anil Tomar and Preeti Abhinav Jain met me in the office and complained about the slow pace of road work in Indirapuram, especially the projects under CM GRIDS. We are aware that it has taken a lot of time to complete the works,” mayor Sunita Dayal said. “I have instructed officials and contractors engaged in the work in Indirapuram and Vasundhara to carry out work on a war footing, and within 15 days, roads will be in relatively better shape.”She said she will be inspecting the repair works soon. “If I find any laxity during my inspection, the people responsible will be penalised,” she said.Councillor Dhiraj Agarwal said, “The festive season is around the corner and the roads are still in bad shape. Once winter sets in, the repair works will come to a stop due to the GRAP restrictions. So we have urged the mayor to wrap up the works as soon as possible.”Municipal commissioner Vikramaditya Singh Malik held a review meeting with officials and contractors and instructed them to finish work in 100m patches at a time. “They have been given 15 days to get the levelling work done,” he said. He has also directed them to cover all utility ducts, like electric cables and pipelines, within two months. “We have a March 2027 deadline and within that period the work on broadening roads and beautification, a dedicated cycle track, a pedestrian footpath, solar-powered street lights, bus stops, e-vehicle charging stations, and green areas will be completed,” he told TOI earlier.Under CM Grid, work on a 4-km stretch between Saheed Capt Manoj Pandey Marg (Kanawani Puliya) and NH-9, from Sucheta Kruplani Road and from Kala Patthar Road to Kaveri Marg, is taking place.Work on another 1.8-km stretch from Kala Pathhar Road to Saheed Capt Manoj Pandey Marg via Sushila Nayar Marg is also underway.There is a 1.1-km road stretch from Sushila Nayar Marg to Kala Pathhar via North India Mall, and a 1.8-km stretch from Kala Pathhar Road to Saheed Capt Manoj Pandey Marg via Kasturba Marh is also in progress.In other parts of the city, from Dabur Chowk to Kaushambi Bus Stand via EDM Mall to Chaudhury Charan Singh Road and from Vaishali Sector 4 to Harsh Vardhan Marg via Dharam Marg, road repair work is also being taken up.
