Patna: Former CM and JD(U) national president Nitish Kumar on Friday attended the ‘grih pravesh puja’ at his newly allotted bungalow in Delhi ahead of the monsoon session of Parliament, which begins on Monday.Nitish filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha on March 5 and was elected unopposed on March 11. He took oath as a member of the Upper House on April 10, resigned from the legislative council on March 30 and stepped down as CM Samrat Choudhary took over on April 14.Nitish, who flew to Delhi from Patna in the morning, reached his new residence at 9, Sunehri Marg from the airport. He was accompanied by JD(U) working president and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Kumar Jha, besides security personnel.JD(U) chief spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar said Nitish would continue to remain active in both Bihar and Delhi. “Earlier, he had assured the party and people of the state that he will remain mostly in Bihar and guide the party,” Neeraj said.“He had envisioned the Saat Nishchay (Seven Resolves)-3 programme for the state’s governance and its new age economy,” he added.Earlier, Nitish had been allotted 6, Kamraj Marg in Delhi in his capacity as Bihar CM. The bungalow is now expected to be used by CM Samrat Choudhary during his visits to the national capital.With the monsoon session beginning on Monday, Nitish is expected to draw attention in the Rajya Sabha after nearly two decades as Bihar’s chief minister. He has now become the third politician from the state, after RJD chief Lalu Prasad and late Sushil Kumar Modi, to have served in both Houses of Parliament as well as both Houses of the state legislature.
