YAMUNANAGAR: A junior engineer (JE) of the Yamunanagar-Jagadhri Municipal Corporation was suspended and action was ordered against another JE of the electricity corporation following complaints raised during the Municipal House meeting on Wednesday.The meeting, chaired by mayor Suman Bahmani, discussed 44 proposals related to city development, illegal colonies, pollution, traffic management, sanitation, healthcare, streetlights, property tax and development works.MC members raised complaints about the performance of a municipal JE in creating property IDs and handling other assigned work. Following the Mayor’s recommendation, Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad ordered the engineer’s suspension.The House also ordered action against a JE of the electricity corporation for allegedly failing to repair a damaged electricity pole in Ward 3 for two months. An agency was also debarred for failing to maintain required quality standards in development works.Bahmani said some senior officials of government departments did not take Municipal House meetings seriously and directed that show-cause notices be issued to officials who remained absent.Officials said 160 challans had been issued and Rs 2.80 lakh collected in fines over single-use plastic violations in the past six months.Police said 116 cases had been registered under the NDPS Act this year, with 216 accused arrested. Around 5,000 traffic challans had also been issued.
