Thiruvananthapuram: The state govt has sanctioned Rs 25.64 crore as immediate financial assistance to 25,648 families in Pathanamthitta whose houses were damaged in the heavy rains in the first week of Aug.The assistance is intended to help the affected families undertake urgent repairs and restore their houses to habitable condition. Each eligible family will receive Rs 10,000 as immediate relief.The amount has been sanctioned from state disaster response fund and the chief minister’s distress relief fund, providing financial support to families who suffered damage during the flooding.Govt has instructed the Pathanamthitta district collector to take necessary steps to disburse the assistance to the affected families. The authorities have been directed to ensure that the relief reaches the beneficiaries at the earliest.The assistance will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of the eligible beneficiaries.Govt’s decision is aimed at providing immediate support to families dealing with the aftermath of the flooding and helping them carry out essential repairs to their homes.
