Patna: With the monsoon gaining momentum in the city, Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Tuesday launched a special training programme for personnel engaged in fogging and anti-larval operations to curb vector-borne diseases.The training began at the Azimabad and Patna City zonal offices and is being conducted by a three-member team from the Metropolitan Surveillance Unit. The programme covers the safe and scientific operation of equipment, proper use of insecticides and compliance with standard operating procedures.Senior public health specialist Dr Ranjeet Kumar, who led the session, said the objective was to familiarise field workers with the practical aspects of fogging and anti-larval measures. He said the personnel were being trained to identify larvae and use the correct concentration of chemicals to ensure the treatment remains effective and safe.The PMC is carrying out fogging, anti-larval spraying and drainage operations in two shifts every day to prevent dengue, malaria and other monsoon-related diseases.As part of the civic body’s schedule, personnel from other zones will also be trained in phases over the coming days.
