Bomb threat emails trigger evacuation at 4 Patna schools

Patna: Panic gripped Patna’s Danapur area on Tuesday after four prominent schools received bomb threat emails, triggering concern among students, parents and school authorities. Following the threat, the administrations immediately evacuated all students and staff and launched extensive security checks across the campuses. The schools that received the emails were Delhi Public School (DPS) senior wing under Shahpur police station, DPS junior wing under Rupaspur police station, Army Public School (APS) under Danapur police station and Radiant International School under Khagaul police station. As a precautionary measure, classrooms were evacuated and students handed over to their parents.Police, bomb disposal squads, dog squads and other specialised teams rushed to the schools and carried out thorough searches of the premises. Security personnel inspected classrooms, administrative blocks, playgrounds and other areas, while additional police forces were deployed in and around the campuses to maintain law and order.Danapur additional superintendent of police Ajit Kumar said four schools had received the threat emails, following which police immediately secured the campuses and began the evacuation process.“As per protocol, we called the bomb disposal squad, dog squad and other verification teams. The entire campus was scanned, and no suspicious object has been found so far,” he said. The ASP told this newspaper that all four emails carried similar content and appeared to have been sent from the same mail account.“The email appears to have similarities with the recent threat mail received by the Bihar Secretariat, but it is too early to draw any conclusions. The matter is under investigation,” he said.Kumar said information about the threat was received around 10.30am. He added that the email and all related digital evidence had been forwarded to the cyber cell to trace its origin and identify the sender.“We will analyse the digital evidence and trace the source of the email. Appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation,” the ASP said.
