SONIPAT: A 25-year-old man was killed and two of his friends sustained injuries after their motorcycle crashed into a road divider on Murthal Road in Sonipat early Sunday morning.The deceased, identified as Sumit, was riding the motorcycle when it lost control following the collision with the divider, causing all three riders to fall onto the road.Sumit, a resident of Sandal Kalan village, sustained critical injuries and died at the spot. His companions, Prince and Sahil, were injured in the accident and were subsequently taken to Sonipat Civil Hospital.Prince’s condition was reported to be serious, following which doctors referred him to Rohtak PGI for further treatment. Sahil was treated at Sonipat Civil Hospital.According to police, the accident occurred at around 5am on Sunday. The motorcycle reportedly rammed into a divider on Murthal Road and went out of control. All three men fell onto the road following the impact.Sumit, who was riding the motorcycle, suffered severe injuries and succumbed at the spot.Police received information about the accident through Dial-112 at around 6:44am.A police team subsequently reached the spot and inspected the accident site.According to information available, Sumit, Prince and Sahil were all working as delivery workers for Blinkit.People familiar with their work said Sumit usually worked the night shift and would generally return home at around 8am after completing his duty.On Sunday too, he was reportedly on his way home after completing his night shift when the accident occurred on Murthal Road.Another account concerning the incident says that the three friends were returning after a party. Since the accounts regarding where they were coming from differ, the exact circumstances immediately preceding the accident would have to be established through the police inquiry.Sumit was a resident of Sandal Kalan village in Sonipat. He was married and is survived by his wife and a child aged around two to three years, according to the information available.The news of his death plunged the family into grief. Police informed his relatives and initiated the necessary proceedings.Sumit’s body was sent to the Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. After the procedure was completed, the body was handed over to his family.Following the accident, the injured Prince and Sahil were taken to Sonipat Civil Hospital.Doctors referred Prince to Rohtak PGI after assessing his condition as serious, while Sahil continued to receive treatment at the Civil Hospital in Sonipat.There was also a claim that Prince tested positive for alcohol. However, police have not officially confirmed the claim, and it should therefore be treated as an allegation or reported information rather than an established fact.Bystanders Allege Body Remained on Road for Nearly 2.5 HoursThe accident also raised questions among people who were present at the scene regarding the response to the incident.According to eyewitnesses, local commuters stepped in to assist the injured. One of the injured men was reportedly taken to hospital by a passer-by in his own vehicle, while the other was transported by ambulance.Bystanders have alleged that Sumit’s body remained at the accident site for nearly two-and-a-half hours. They further claimed that two or three ambulances passed through the area during this period but did not stop at the spot, allegedly citing the fact that it was a police case.The allegations have not been independently verified, and police have not officially confirmed them.Bystanders said that prompt medical assistance and emergency response could potentially have made a difference to the situation. However, whether the delay occurred and whether it had any bearing on the outcome would be determined only through an official inquiry.The incident falls under the jurisdiction of Sector 27 police station in Sonipat.SHO Inspector Savit Kumar said that the police had completed the required proceedings following the accident. He said Sumit’s body was subjected to a post-mortem examination and was subsequently handed over to his family.According to the SHO, no action has been initiated against anyone in connection with the accident, as the motorcycle had collided with the road divider.Inspector Savit Kumar said the available findings indicated that the motorcycle struck the divider and that there was no basis for action against another person or vehicle.The family subsequently performed Sumit’s last rites in his village.After receiving the emergency call, the police team reached the spot and inspected the scene. The circumstances surrounding the crash were examined as part of the proceedings.Police are looking into the circumstances in which the motorcycle collided with the divider and the events immediately preceding the accident.The information regarding the emergency call states that police were alerted through Dial-112 at around 6:44am, following which officers reached the location.The body was taken into police custody for the post-mortem examination and was later handed over to the family after completion of the formalities.The allegations made by bystanders regarding the time taken to remove Sumit’s body and the alleged response of ambulances have also become part of the discussion surrounding the accident.However, these remain claims made by eyewitnesses, and there has been no official confirmation of the allegations.The Sector 27 police, meanwhile, have maintained that the motorcycle crashed into the divider and that no other person or vehicle was found to be responsible, leaving no grounds for action against anyone.The precise sequence of events following the accident, including the timing of emergency assistance and the removal of the body, would need to be established on the basis of official records and investigation.Sumit was only 25 years old and worked as a delivery executive to support his family. A married man with a young child, he was reportedly returning home after his night shift when the fatal crash occurred.Following the post-mortem examination, Sumit’s body was handed over to his family and his last rites were performed in his native village.
