Nagpur: Two women were stabbed in twin incidents in Kamptee and Kalamna on Sunday night after their male companions accused them of extra-marital affairs, said police.In both incidents, the assailants allegedly used sharp weapons after heated arguments, leaving one woman battling for life at Mayo Hospital and another wriggling out of the man’s clutches and fleeing after being held at knife point.Police registered cases under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including attempt to murder and criminal intimidation.In the Kamptee incident, a 35-year-old woman alleged her husband, Sheikh Shabbir, 38, returned home drunk on September 14 and began beating her on suspicion that she was having an affair. When she resisted, Shabbir assaulted her with a stick and pressed a knife to her throat, threatening to kill her, the police complaint stated.The woman stepped back and managed to dodge the blade, before fleeing the house. The case was registered on her report. Police said Shabbir has nine cases against him. The team led by senior inspector of New Kamptee police station, Mahesh Andhale, visited the spot.At Sai Nagar in Kalamna on the same night, 40-year-old Jeetu Ranpise attacked a 38-year-old woman with whom he was in a relationship. Accusing her of being involved with another man, Ranpise stabbed her on the neck, face and hands.An attempt to murder FIR was registered on the complainant’s report at Kalamna police station. Officers, including senior inspector of Kalamna police station Pravin Kale visited the scene.
