GURGAON: Strongly rejecting statements attributed to accused driver Kalyan Bainsla and his lawyer, Gurgaon hit-and-run victim Sia on Wednesday called the claims from his side “lies”.She reiterated that camera footage showed Bainsla jumping a red light, deliberately hitting her two-wheeler and speeding away from the spot.According to news agency ANI, Sia dismissed a narrative circulated by the accused’s supporters on social media, which she said sought to portray the collision as a case of mutual negligence or a panic reaction.“Whatever statements have come from their side, from their lawyer, and whatever I’ve seen on Twitter and Instagram from their supporters since yesterday, I don’t think they need to justify themselves at all. What was recorded on the cameras shows how he jumped the red light and ran away, ” Sia said.“All of these statements are lies, and I don’t know what his mentality was or what he was thinking. He intentionally hit me and drove off. The whole country saw that video and saw how he intentionally hit me and sped away, ” Sia added.Emphasising that all four occupants of the car should face action, she said, “This is just the first step in the process. If someone commits attempted murder and gets away, obviously they will be arrested. This is the first action the police have taken. My demand is that all four people in that car should be arrested and that the strictest possible action should be taken against all of them. After the incident, all four of them ran away together. Since all four were equally involved in the incident, all four should be punished.”Reacting to explanations from the accused’s side that a medical or personal emergency prompted him to drive rashly, Sia’s father dismissed the claims as baseless.“If he was feeling the urge to use the washroom, he could have slowed down or stopped his car,” her father remarked.Detailing the progress of the legal proceedings, the father said, “Yesterday, we went to the Noida court, where Sia gave her statement under Section 164 before the judge. After that, she was sent to the local hospital for a medical examination.”Providing an update on her condition, her father said the crash had worsened her pain and caused internal injuries.“Sia was also in a lot of pain last night. After an injury, you often discover later where you have actually been hurt, such as hidden bruises, and she had quite a few of those. Soon, she will go to a hospital here in Delhi for X-rays, MRIs, and whatever treatment she needs,” he added. The development follows the detention of accused Kalyan Bainsla in Rajasthan’s Dausa by Gurgaon Police after a video of the incident on Golf Course Road went viral on social media, drawing widespread attention. The footage showed the collision between Sia’s two-wheeler and the car allegedly driven by Bainsla.Following the circulation of the video, the incident gained significant attention on social media, after which police took action against the accused.(With agency inputs)
