Nagpur: Combining spirituality with science, the Shri Sarvajanik Bal Ganeshotsav Mandal has created an elaborate pandal based on the theme of ‘Vigyan-Brahma Atma Suddhi’ (self-purification through cosmic science) this Ganeshotsav. The installation seeks to take devotees on a journey linking the human mind, consciousness, science, and spirituality.Shri Public Ganeshotsav Mandal has constructed a massive mandap, designed to represent a cosmic space. According to the organisers, the structure uses metals, geometric figures and circular formations inspired by galaxies and planets to depict celestial elements and their influence on human existence.At the entrance, devotees are introduced to a representation of the scientific universe, featuring replicas and installations depicting the functioning of the human brain.Corporator and Mandal head Ishwar Dhengle said the decoration has been conceptualised to encourage devotees to look inward and understand the connection between human thoughts, emotions and actions.“Entering the main pavilion, devotees are taken into a scientific universe where they can see several replicas and representations. The walls depict the continuous movement of thoughts and activities in the human brain. The installation also explores the scientific processes associated with emotions and behaviour,” he said. Dhengle added that while brainstorming ideas, he checked out models and designs undertaken by mandals across the country.At the centre of the pandal is a large reservoir-like structure representing the human mind, intellect, thoughts and culture. The organisers have used waves emerging from the structure to symbolise the Shadripu — the six inner enemies traditionally described as kama (desire), krodha (anger), lobha (greed), moha (attachment), mada (ego) and matsarya (jealousy).A massive Shivling has also been installed above the central structure, symbolising the cosmic force witnessing the changing thoughts and emotions of human beings.“Our concept seeks to portray how unchecked emotions and negative tendencies can lead to mental disturbance, conflict, hatred, violence and destruction. In contrast, surrender to Lord Ganesha, prayer, moral values, good conduct and compassion are presented as pathways towards self-purification,” Dhengle said.The installation also features 16 Deepastambhas, which the organisers say symbolise the journey from ignorance towards knowledge and spiritual enlightenment.
