Prayagraj: On the lines of the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA), Prayagraj Municipal Corporation will also prepare its own land bank to support future projects in the city’s expanded areas.The decision was taken unanimously at the municipal House meeting chaired by Mayor Ganesh Kesarwani on Tuesday. All councillors will collect details of land received from gram panchayats and village assemblies in their respective wards and facilitate its transfer in favour of the corporation.Following the resolution of the PMC Sadan (House), a proposal has been approved to charge 150% of the applicable fee from people found in illegal possession of municipal corporation shops. The proposal initially included a Rs 1 lakh deposit and a monthly charge, but councillors opposed it, saying poor shopkeepers would not be able to afford the upfront amount. Municipal commissioner Seelam Sai Teja said the 150% charge would be applied uniformly across the city area which comes under the ambit of the PMC.With revenue generation emerging as a key focus, the corporation also decided to install unipoles and LED advertising displays at the airport, railway station and roadways bus stands. The corporation earned Rs 4.36 crore from advertisements in the 2025-26 financial year and has already collected Rs 3.16 crore in the current financial year.In another major decision, regarding delayed mutation charges, the house approved a proposal for a one-time fee of Rs 1,000 for delayed mutation, irrespective of duration of the delay. The existing system required property owners pay Rs 500 per month in case of delayed mutation.The house also decided to constitute a committee headed by the municipal commissioner to examine complaints regarding electrical equipment purchased since 2023. Several councillors had complained that a large amount of the equipment had developed faults. The committee will include the chief financial officer and examine the purchases and condition of the equipment.The corporation also decided to increase manpower in its electrical department to improve maintenance and address complaints related to electrical infrastructure.
