Nagpur: Citizens can now locate the nearest artificial immersion tank for Ganesh idols on their mobile phones, with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) launching a digital platform to promote eco-friendly Ganeshotsav and protect natural water bodies from pollution.The facility can be accessed by scanning the QR code on NMC’s website or visiting https://ganpati-zone-map.emergent.host. The portal provides turn-by-turn navigation to the designated immersion sites.NMC has created 419 artificial immersion tanks across the city, including larger facilities at Gorewada, Police Line Takli, Kacchi Visa in Lakadganj and Koradi for large idols. Smaller tanks have been installed at various locations for smaller idols.Mayor Neeta Thakre, who inaugurated the artificial tanks at Futala Lake on Monday, urged citizens to use the facilities instead of immersing idols in lakes, wells or drains.TOLL-FREE NUMBER FOR NIRMALYA COLLECTIONNMC has also launched a toll-free helpline, 1800 2677 966, to provide information about Nirmalya Raths and their collection services.The civic body has deployed 18 Nirmalya Raths to collect floral offerings and other waste generated during Ganeshotsav. Mayor Thakre flagged off the vehicles at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Administrative Building.The initiative is aimed at ensuring the proper collection and disposal of Nirmalya during the festival.
