Aizawl: Officials from Mizoram and Tripura govts have held the first round of talks in Agartala to seek an amicable solution to the inter-state boundary dispute between the neighbouring states, Mizoram home minister K Sapdanga said on Sunday.Sapdanga said the talks were held at the secretary level, with Mizoram delegation led by the state’s home and revenue secretary on Thursday. The delegation met officials representing Tripura govt.During the negotiations in Agartala, the two sides agreed to constitute separate teams to study the border-related issues in detail and collect relevant information and documents.In the initial phase, the teams will examine various aspects of the boundary dispute and compile relevant documents. These will form the basis for further discussions aimed at identifying possible solutions, Sapdanga said.The dispute centres on Phuldungsei village, which both states claim as part of their territory. The issuance of ration cards to residents of Phuldungsei by both state govts has been a source of contention.The proposed construction of govt buildings and a Hindu temple on nearby Thaidawr Hill had also triggered tension in the area, according to officials.Sapdanga said the date for the next round of official-level negotiations with Assam govt had not yet been fixed. Officials from Mizoram and Assam, however, remain in close contact, he said.
