Govt tables Rs 87,383-cr supplementary budget in assemblyPatna: Finance minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav on Monday tabled the first supplementary budget of Rs87,383.43 crore for the 2026-27 financial year in the state assembly.The supplementary budget is over and above the allocations made in the annual budget under the plan (scheme) and non-plan heads of the departments concerned and will be financed from various sources.As many as 13 Bills were also tabled by the ministers concerned for passage by the House on July 21 and 22.The supplementary budget comprises Rs57,077.95 crore for scheme heads, Rs30,265.99 crore towards establishment and committed expenditure (salary, pension, family pension, etc.) and Rs39.48 crore for central sector schemes.The supplementary budget will be taken up for discussion in the House on July 23. After the govt’s reply to the debate, the appropriation Bill is scheduled to be passed the same day, authorising the govt to incur the expenditure.The largest share of the supplementary allocation will be spent on schemes under the Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, Aajeevika (Livelihood) Guarantee Mission, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), old-age pension, bridging the shortfall arising from the reduced central share under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, and AMRUT 2.0, among others.The opening day of the session passed off peacefully. Outside the House, opposition members said they would raise key issues concerning the state and seek the govt’s response during the remaining days of the monsoon session, which concludes on July 24.After the day’s proceedings, NDA legislators held a meeting in the Central Hall to strategise floor management and formulate their response to the opposition’s agenda.Earlier, assembly speaker Prem Kumar, in his written welcome address, appealed to members to cooperate in ensuring the smooth conduct of House proceedings and govt business.
