Kanpur: A team of the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) raided three food establishments in the Rail Bazar area on Sunday and shut down two of them after finding serious violations of food safety and hygiene norms.The team found samosas being prepared in extremely unhygienic conditions on the roadside and egg curry being prepared using spoiled eggs. A total of 15 food samples were collected from the three establishments, while large quantities of unsafe food items were destroyed on the spot.Food Safety Officers inspected M/s Ambar Traders & General Suppliers at 138, Faithfulganj, Rail Bazar, and Sherkhan Cloud Kitchen at 562, Delite Hata, besides SA Enterprises in Rail Bazar.At M/s Ambar Traders & General Suppliers, samosas were being prepared on the roadside in the lane outside the main entrance. The team collected seven samples, including loose flour, ground red chilli, salt, samosa filling, soybean, loose refined oil and ready-to-eat samosas.Finding the premises non-compliant with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, officials suspended food operations with immediate effect.Around 218 ready-to-eat samosas, valued at about ₹2,000, were destroyed on the spot.At Sherkhan Cloud Kitchen, four samples of packed pickle, flour, ready-to-eat rice and egg curry were collected. The kitchen was found operating under unhygienic conditions and was consequently shut down.Around 40 kg of egg curry was destroyed.At SA Enterprises in Rail Bazar, officials also found unhygienic conditions in the kitchen. Four samples of samosas, maida, garam masala and salt were collected. Around 200 freshly prepared samosas, valued at approximately ₹2,000, were destroyed.
