FIR against 241 over 16-hour road blockade after cloth merchant’s death

Kanpur: An FIR has been registered against 33 named and 208 unidentified people for allegedly blocking a road for 16 hours following the death of a 35-year-old cloth merchant in the Gajner police station area of Kanpur Dehat.The 241 accused allegedly obstructed traffic, stopped passersby and ambulances, and disrupted official work by police and administrative personnel.The case was registered on a complaint by Gajner police station sub-inspector Pradeep Kumar on Monday evening.Bhadauriya’s body was found near Jithrauli Tiraha on Sept 9. Alleging murder, his family members and villagers placed the body on the Gajner-Raipur main road and erected a tent, according to the complaint.Police and administrative officers reached the site and tried to persuade the protesters to clear the road. Personnel from different police stations and police branches were deployed to maintain law and order and end the blockade.The complaint alleged that unverified reports claiming Bhadauriya had been shot dead were circulated on social media and YouTube, creating tension and unrest in the area. It also alleged that protesters used abusive language and misbehaved with govt employees.
