Yadgir: A Dalit family was allegedly attacked by upper-caste people for staying in a temple after attending the annual jatra at Gurusanagi village of Vadagera taluk in Yadgir district on Monday. Police have arrested six persons and filed an atrocity case against 13. It is said that some Dalit families from Chamanal and Pagalapur villages had come to Gurusanagi, where Siddhalingeshwara temple’s annual jatra was organised on Sunday evening. When they were returning on Monday morning, their autorickshaw injured a local boy. A heated argument took place between Dalit families and locals. Irked by this, a local group allegedly assaulted Dalit families with stones. SP Pruthvik Shankar said a group clash occurred over a petty issue between both parties. “An atrocity and assault case has been registered at Shahapur police station. An FIR was registered against 13 people, and six are arrested. Search for others is on,” he added.
