Mysuru: BJP MP Yaduveer Wadiyar on Wednesday hit back at Congress’ criticism that BJP had brought the Maharaja on to the streets in connection with the protest in T Narasipura on Sunday. “During the election, they asked whether I would come to the streets from the ivory tower. But now, when I come to the streets, Congress is finding problems in it,” he said. “There is no clarity in their stand or strategies,” he added.Speaking to reporters, Yaduveer made it clear that there was nothing special about his detention by police during the T Narasipura protest, saying he had been detained earlier too.“While fighting against Muda scam in Mysuru and after the death by suicide of a party activist in Kodagu, I was detained by the police. I am not happy to get detained. But being the voice of the people and their representative, I am bound by duties, including opposing anti-people policies,” he said. “Whatever issues related to Dharma, I always stand by it,” he added.Yaduveer also criticised Congress functionaries, including the chief minister, for justifying the statement made by T Narasipura inspector Dhananjay at the peace meeting.Party won’t tolerate indiscipline: YaduveerWarning that the party will not tolerate any kind of indiscipline, Yaduveer said that the party’s state functionaries spoke to two senior party functionaries, former MLA and BJP city president L Nagendra and former MP Pratap Simmha, over the spat during the T Narasipura protest. Replying to a query about the public spat, Yaduveer said that it is a small issue and an internal matter of the party. He also shrugged off criticism over BJP leaders carrying Lord Ganesha idols while wearing slippers. “As per the Hindu religion, an idol becomes sacred and worshipped only after the prathistapana. We gave all the respect to the idols during that situation,” he said.Seva Sankalpa AbhiyanYaduveer said BJP would organise Seva Sankalpa Abhiyan between Sept 17 and Oct 17 to mark 25 years of service of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As part of the campaign, 13 programmes will be organised across the state, he explained. Various competitions for children will also be organised at the mandala, district and state levels.CPM felicitates inspector DhananjayaThe district unit of the CPM on Wednesday felicitated T Narasipura police inspector Dhananjaya, saying he took steps to maintain law and order during the Ganesh procession issue. A CPM delegation visited the police station and congratulated the inspector, alleging that BJP is attempting to use the instructions issued by inspector Dhananjaya regarding the Ganesh procession to provoke communal sentiments and disturb peace.The delegation condemned what it termed the “anti-Constitutional” stand of BJP and appreciated the inspector for taking steps to maintain peace and law and order.
