Amravati: State govt has suspended Public Works Department (PWD) assistant engineer Vinod Goudkar and engineer Shantanu Gulhane for alleged negligence in the electrical and fire safety arrangements at Amravati’s Dufferin District Women’s Hospital. Also, electrical contractor Vidit Aware has been barred from taking up further works at the hospital.Three newborns in the SNCU were killed after a fire at the hospital on Aug 24. Based on the report of the committee constituted to probe the incident, action was taken against five officers of the health department.Now, responsibility has been fixed for negligence in inspection, maintenance and repairs of the electrical system and fire safety equipment. Citizens are demanding strict action against those guilty and awaiting the final report of the inquiry committee.
