IIT Hyderabad signs MoU with Kaynes Semicon to boost semiconductor research

Hyderabad: The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) signed a memorandum of understanding with Kaynes Semicon Private Limited on Friday at SEMICON India 2026 in New Delhi to expand collaboration in semiconductor research, packaging technologies and workforce development. The MoU was initially signed for a period of two years with an option to renew it further.The partnership, to be coordinated through IITH’s Wadhwani Innovation Network Centre of Excellence, aims to combine the institute’s research ecosystem with Kaynes Semicon’s industry expertise in areas including semiconductor assembly, testing, packaging and emerging technologies.Under the agreement, the two organisations will explore joint research and development projects, technical publications, faculty and research scholar exchanges, student internships at Kaynes facilities, joint conferences and support for deep-tech translation and commercialisation through the centre.The collaboration also includes industry-led lectures, seminars and training for IITH students and stakeholders, while IITH faculty will conduct workshops for Kaynes engineers. Curriculum development aligned with current semiconductor and packaging practices is also planned.IITH director Prof BS Murty said the partnership would help translate academic innovation into scalable, industry-ready semiconductor packaging and manufacturing solutions.Kaynes Semicon CEO Raghu Panicker said the collaboration would support talent and innovation capabilities needed for India’s semiconductor ambitions. The MoU is valid for two years and may be renewed.
