MoU signed to train railway officials

Patna: The Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (IRIMEE)-Jamalpur and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Kharagpur, on Tuesday, signed a five-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) to provide advanced training to railway officials on next-generation Vande Bharat train sets and MEMU maintenance systems.The agreement was signed following approval from IRIMEE director general Animesh Sinha and IIT-Kharagpur director Suman Chakraborty. IRIMEE dean Prem Prakash and IIT-Kharagpur senior faculty member Swagata Dasgupta signed the MoU on behalf of the two institutions.According to IRIMEE director general Sinha, at least 40 railway officials selected from various zonal railways across the country will participate in the first batch of training scheduled from Nov 16 to 27. “The programme will focus on key areas, including electric safety and traction systems of train sets, along with advanced maintenance practices for modern railway systems,” he said.The initiative aims to create a strong partnership between IIT-Kharagpur’s academic expertise and IRIMEE’s practical railway training experience. “The objective is to introduce global best practices into Indian Railways and enhance the technical capabilities of railway personnel handling advanced rolling stock technologies,” Sinha said.
