Berhampur: A 33-year-old history-sheeter, who sustained critical injuries after unidentified miscreants allegedly stabbed him at Khajapalli village under Khallikote police station limits in Ganjam district on Sunday night, died on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital. The deceased was identified as Chitrasen Jena of Khajapalli. Police said seven criminal cases were pending against him at different police stations in Ganjam district.According to police, Jena was in a rehearsal room where some youths from the village were practising theatre when an unidentified youth allegedly called him outside. As soon as he stepped out, the miscreants allegedly stabbed him and fled the spot. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died during treatment. “Though the exact cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained, we suspect it might be the fallout of previous enmity,” said Ramesh Pradhan, inspector in-charge of Khallikote police station. He said after Jena’s death, police intensified patrolling in the area and raided several suspected hideouts to arrest the absconding miscreants.
