Govt signs MoUs with two AI firms to expand digital services

Patna: The state’s information technology department on Friday signed memorandums of understanding with homegrown artificial intelligence (AI) firms Sarvam AI (Axonwise Pvt Ltd) and CoRover Private Limited, the company behind BharatGPT, to develop artificial intelligence-based solutions in Bihar.The agreements were signed at the chief minister’s secretariat in Patna in the presence of CM Samrat Choudhary and deputy CM Bijendra Prasad Yadav. Information technology minister Nitish Mishra was also present. Officials of the department and the two companies exchanged the MoU documents during the programme.According to officials, the partnerships are aimed at expanding the use of artificial intelligence in governance and developing technology tailored to Bihar’s needs. The initiative is expected to support the creation of AI-based systems to make govt services faster, simpler and more accessible.In a statement, Samrat said the agreements would help advance the objectives of “Digital Bihar” and “Viksit Bihar”. He said an indigenous AI model would be developed in line with the state’s requirements and that large-scale training programmes would be organised to build AI skills and strengthen the startup ecosystem.The Chief Minister’s Office said the collaboration would help create infrastructure for the use and development of AI and enable state departments to access AI models and applications developed in India.Officials said researchers in Bihar would receive support to strengthen work on AI in Indian languages and local dialects. The partnerships are also expected to encourage the development of local solutions and promote wider adoption of AI in public services.The state plans to introduce training and capacity-building programmes for govt employees and develop a network of local partners to support the long-term use of the technology.Principal secretary to the chief minister Deepak Kumar, chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit, secretary to the chief minister Lokesh Kumar Singh, information technology department special secretary Arvind Kumar Choudhary, BharatGPT vice president Shashank Shekhar Thakur and Sarvam AI chief operating officer Raj Chauhan attended the programme.
