Thiruvananthapuram: The state health department has initiated steps to prepare a comprehensive master plan for the development of three major healthcare institutions in the capital.Health minister K Muraleedharan said the master plan would cover general hospital, Peroorkada model district hospital and Happiness and Wellness Centre, Peroorkada. INKEL has been entrusted with preparing the master plan.A detailed site survey and assessment of the existing facilities and development potential of the three institutions will begin soon. The health minister has directed the principal secretary of the health department to take steps to obtain the necessary approvals for the exercise.The master plan will be prepared after a detailed assessment of the condition of the existing buildings, infrastructure, available land, treatment and allied facilities, and future development requirements.It will also include proposals to improve the existing facilities and ensure comprehensive development of the institutions, taking into account their future requirements.As part of the exercise, INKEL will conduct detailed surveys and site assessments at all three institutions at its own expense. A comprehensive development plan will subsequently be prepared based on the findings of the survey.
