Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Tehran on Friday for the “Janfada Iran” rally, a mobilisation event focused on showing public support for Iran amid its continuing tensions with the United States and Israel. Footage showed large crowds filling Revolution Square, with women carrying weapons and volunteer units marching while participants voiced support for the country’s leadership. Iranian state media reported that President Masoud Pezeshkian also joined the rallies alongside Basij, Revolutionary Guards and security personnel. The “Janfada Iran” campaign encourages volunteers to register for roles including logistics, rescue, relief, social assistance and defence, with many also signing up for basic military training. The rally comes as tensions around the Strait of Hormuz remain high and efforts to revive talks over the strategic shipping route face delays.
