Bengaluru: A woman’s chance meeting with a man during a trip to Tamil Nadu in July turned into friendship in Bengaluru within days. In weeks, the man started allegedly harassing her, threatening to kill her and make her “disappear into Pakistan” if she ended their friendship. He claimed he was an undercover police officer to threaten her.According to a complaint filed by 35-year-old Sukanya (name changed), private firm employee and from Bellandur, she became friends with Naresh (name changed) during her Kodaikanal trip from July 9 to 11.On returning to Bengaluru, the two reconnected. Shockingly, Naresh would behave obscenely. When she refused to continue the relationship, the man abused her in public and confined her inside a hotel room. As she started avoiding him and blocked his number, he allegedly harassed her through fake email IDs and phone numbers and spread allegations portraying her as a “call girl”, her complaint stated.According to Sukanya, Naresh claimed he was the narcotics division of the police department.Bellandur police have registered a case for stalking, gestures intended to insult the modesty of a woman and criminal intimidation.
