Prayagraj: Polling for the annual election of the Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA) will be held on Sept 17 on the high court campus, with around 11,724 advocates set to cast their votes to elect 30 office-bearers of the association.A total of 263 candidates are contesting the elections.According to chief returning officer and senior advocate SFA Naqvi, the preparation for the voting is complete.Returning officer Vashistha Tiwari said the district administration has assured adequate police deployment for smooth conduct of the election and traffic management in the surrounding areas.“A total of 20 entry gates are there for lawyers to enter the polling area and cast their votes. CCTVs are being installed in the polling area and with the assistance of AI tools we will ensure free and fair elections,” they said.The polling will take place from 9 am to 5 pm at the high court cricket ground. The high-profile post of president has drawn eight candidates, while the race for general secretary features 14 contenders.The election will be conducted in accordance with the association’s 33% reservation policy for women, ensuring adequate female representation.The contested positions (office-bearers) include one president, one senior vice president, six vice presidents (four male, two female), one general secretary, two treasurers (one male, one female), four joint secretaries (three male, one female), and 15 governing council positions (10 male, five female).
