Itanagar: Residents under the banner of ‘Siang Upper Multipurpose Project Affected Families’ have appealed to heavy machinery owners and workers to refrain from participating in pre-feasibility report (PFR) activities for the proposed mega hydro project in Arunachal Pradesh.In a statement addressed to residents of Siang, Upper Siang and adjoining districts, the group asked operators of JCBs, excavators, dumpers and other heavy equipment, as well as labourers, to withhold their services at designated PFR sites.The locations include Parong/Beging, Dite-Dime and Ugeng (Riga)/Kongong Lingkok (Komkar).However, the statement warned that in the event of accidents, loss of life, injuries or property loss during the ongoing operations, primary accountability would lie with the district administration, govt agencies and contractors involved. It urged the authorities to enforce statutory safety measures and remain accountable for any lapses.
