Nagpur: Tightening checks against diversion of domestic LPG cylinders, the city administration has made the use of commercial LPG cylinders a condition for obtaining permission to hold public festivals and events.Gas agencies have also been directed to ensure that domestic cylinders are not diverted for community kitchens or cooking at public gatherings.The directions were issued at a recent meeting convened by the Foodgrain Distribution Office with LPG company representatives and supply department officials to review the safe and regulated use of cooking gas during the festive season.The department said instances had been reported where customers received OTPs after booking domestic cylinders but did not receive the refill on time.LPG companies and distributors were also directed to step up inspections to curb black marketing, illegal cylinder sales and unauthorised storage, while ensuring timely deliveries.Foodgrain distribution officers S Gedam and Pankaj Jalokar, LPG nodal officer and zonal officer Sagar Bawre, supply inspectors Vinod Wagde, Vaibhav Khairkar, Shilpa Darekar and Pradeep Bhave, along with representatives of gas companies, attended the meeting.Officials also discussed suggestions received from Grahak Dakshata Kalyan Foundation on LPG distribution and consumer-related issues.
