Patna: Superintending engineer of minor water resources department, Circle Chapra (Saran), Rajendra Kumar, on Sunday denied allegations made by Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) following searches at his residences and offices on Sept 11.The SVU alleged Kumar possessed disproportionate assets worth over Rs 3 crore, acquired through illegal and corrupt means. Kumar rejected the allegations, saying his family’s reputation had been tarnished by “wrong facts”.He said land near Mumbai valued at Rs 1.61 crore was owned by a society and worth Rs 26 lakh, while a Rs 1.45-crore SBI loan covered several properties. He said his family earns more than Rs 4 lakh through salaries and pensions.He also denied links to alleged properties in Gonawan, Nawada, calling the documents “fake” and “fabricated”. Kumar said his father was a Class-I officer, his mother receives a pension, and he has been in govt service since 2008. He also said his brother serves in Patna high court and his sister and brothers-in-law are officers.
