Bengaluru: A special court for elected representatives in the city granted anticipatory bail to RR Nagar MLA Munirathna Naidu in a criminal case registered against him for threatening a woman. The bail runs till Sept 15, the court said.A 36-year-old woman from the city had lodged the complaint against the MLA and seven others, accusing them of threatening her to withdraw a rape case she had filed 2021.The woman had filed a rape case against one Ravi Shankar, a close associate of the MLA. “Naidu and others, including two police inspectors, are forcing me to withdraw the case,” the woman had said in her complaint to RR Nagar police earlier this week.“Petitioner (Munirathna Naidu) shall be released if arrested in connection with the case. The petitioner should execute a personal bond of Rs 2 lakh. He should not contact prosecution witnesses in any manner and shall not threaten, intimidate or tamper with prosecution evidence,” the court said.
