Ballari: Congress will soon organise a convention in Ballari to showcase development works undertaken in the district, former minister B Nagendra said on Saturday.Speaking to reporters at Rupanagudi village in Ballari taluk, Nagendra said discussions on the convention have been held with party leaders and the high command. The date will be finalised after consultations with chief minister DK Shivakumar, Mallikarjun Kharge and other senior leaders. He said the convention is being organised at the chief minister’s direction and is not intended as a counter to the BJP’s padayatra. Claiming that Ballari has witnessed development worth thousands of crores, he said the Congress wants to take its achievements directly to the people.Taking a dig at the BJP’s padayatra, Nagendra said it lacked any substantive issue and quipped that it might at least help party leaders reduce cholesterol and fat. He also alleged that the BJP launched the campaign to “wash away the wrongs” within its ranks. On the BJP’s challenge to win all 10 Assembly seats in undivided Ballari in 2028, Nagendra said Congress accepts the challenge and is confident of victory.
