T’puram: Attingal Police on Saturday arrested a 20-year-old man and a minor in connection with the attack on a college student at Mankattumoola near Thonnakkal on Friday.The arrested were identified as Sopak of Mankattumoola and a minor. The duo was taken into custody from Unnanthi, near the scene of the attack.The arrests came a day after Vignesh, a second-year BCom student of Sai Gramam College, Thonnakkal, was attacked with a sharp weapon while waiting for a bus at Mankattumoola Jn. The student sustained serious injuries to his neck and head. He is undergoing treatment at Attingal taluk hospital.According to the police, an argument broke out between Vignesh and the accused while they were at the bus stop. The quarrel escalated, leading to the alleged attack on the student.The police sources alleged that the attack could be linked to incidents involving the harassment of female students in the area. The accused reportedly objected to Vignesh talking with his female classmates, leading to an argument. The police are examining the alleged moral-policing angle as part of the probe.The accused were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
